Italian Language Course:
Before coming to Italy, I had not known any Italian what so ever. After looking up a few common words, I noticed it was pretty similar to Spanish. I had taken Spanish all throughout high school, but still pretty much know the bare minimum. I was a little scared for the Italian Language course we had to take the first week. My thoughts were, this could either be really easy or extremely hard. The first day we learned some pretty common words and sentences, such as 'ciao' (hello/ goodbye), 'io me chiamo' (my name is..), and how to ask the professor questions that related to learning Italian, which you can see in the picture. Throughout the week we were taught numbers, time, greetings, foods, and descriptions of people. Having the language class for the first week was very helpful throughout our time in Italy. I cannot say I am any way near fluent now but I did learn a lot.
Fashion Course:
After sitting in class for a whole week learning language, I was excited to see what the fashion class had in stored for us. We got to know the professor pretty well, as he had a lot to tell about himself. We talked about the different brands that Italy has and why fashion is so important. For the final project at the end of the week we were assigned a store and had to present it to the class. My group was assigned Moschino, which is a pretty 'out there' brand. We got to visit the store and see what it was like. The store was very interesting, it took its season theme and brought it throughout the whole store. Overall, the fashion course was pretty intriguing.
Wine & food course: For the third and final week we talked about food and wine. The week was set up a little different from the past two weeks, we didn't just have one professor for the whole week. We had one or two speakers a day talking about a new topic. Everyone that came in was very knowledgeable and experienced. The speaker I found very interesting was food critic that came and talked to us the second day. He told us about his job and showed us videos of many different and famous restaurants in the world. We went on a few field trips this week also. We went to a restaurant and got to taste some signature Italian dishes, and we also got to visit a vineyard. At the vineyard we got to taste different kinds of wines and learn how they are made.
